Launching the first NFT stamps in Nordic countries

Posta is introducing its new generation of stamps, so called NFT stamps. This means every physical stamp is represented by a unique digital token, known as a non-fungible token (NFT), which is stored on a blockchain network. This means that each stamp is truly one-of-a-kind, and cannot be replicated or duplicated.

In the spirit of Faroese culture, the digital NFT is co-created in an interplay between human and nature.

This was achieved by integrating a so called “oracle“ that enables owners to not only influence the visual appearance of their digital NFT stamp, but also to capture a unique moment in time that can never be replicated again. For the first time, owners can take control, not only of their own stamps but also of the availability and rarity values in the market. This feature aims to highlights that our actions are interconnected and individual choices can have a broader impact on the world. Start your collection today and experience the next generation of postage stamps.

Faroe Islands - A journey into the unknown

Nestled in the North Atlantic Ocean, between Iceland and Norway, lies a hidden gem like no other – 18 volcanic islets called the Faroe Islands. Often described as a land of maybe due to its ever-changing weather patterns and unpredictable natural landscapes. Towering cliffs, misty mountains, stunning waterfalls and rugged coastlines that seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon show that here nature reigns supreme.

The artist Heiðrik á Heygum

His creative work spans across the fields of film, art, and music, often merging all three together.
He is widely recognized as a leading artist and filmmaker from the Faroe Islands, having produced award-winning films and music videos for renowned Nordic singers and acts. He has also illustrated stamps and christmas seals for Posta, the national post office. He draws inspiration from a combination of mythology, legend, surrealism, and existentialism. Heiðrik’s diverse and multi-faceted art aptly reflects Stamps of Maybe on appreciating his homeland, in a contemporary and authentic manner that acknowledges the constant changes happening in the world.
